Why Your Bio Might Be Costing You Clients

You have 3 seconds. Maybe less.

That's how long it takes someone to land on your profile & decide whether you're worth their time. And in those three seconds, if your bio isn't doing it's job... that potential client, that brand deal, that new customer, is already gone.

Most brands treat their bio as an afterthought. A quick description, a link, maybe an emoji or two. But your bio is prime real estate. It's the first thing a potential client reads & often the deciding factor between a follow or not.

What Your Bio Actually Needs To Do

A strong bio answers three questions. Who you are, who you serve, & what you want them to do next. That's it. You don't have a lot of space & you don't need it.

If someone lands on your page & can't tell within seconds what you do or why it matters to them, you've already lost them. Clarity converts.

The Most Common Bio Mistakes

Leading with your brand name alone. Your name is already at the top, use the bio space to say something meaningful. You can have the most compelling bio in your industry & still lose the conversion if there's no clear CTA. Where do you want people to go? What do you want them to do? Tell them. A call-to-action at the end of your bio can be the difference between a profile visit & an inquiry in your DMs.

Don't Set It & Forget It

Your bio should evolve with your brand. As your services shift, your audience grows, & your positioning sharpens... your bio should reflect that. Your bio is a living part of your brand. Revisit it, refine it, & make sure it's still speaking to who you are. And more importantly, who you're trying to reach.

It's the smallest update with one of the biggest returns.
